  • Cold Chisel Ringside with VerTec

    Cold Chisel RingsideLegendary Australian Band ‘Cold Chisel’ performed for a series of one off concert performances in the round called ‘Ringside’. These performances, over four nights, held at the Hordern Pavillion in June 2003 in Sydney, were recorded for an upcoming DVD. Demand for tickets to these shows was so great that almost all shows were sold out immediately after they went on sale.
    JPS designed and supplied a JBL Vertec system powered by Crown MA5002VZ Amplifiers and controlled by BSS 366 omnidrives.
    The system comprised of 36 X Vertec 4889 cabinets which were flown ‘in the round’ in six clusters that were each six deep. Also used were 24 X JPS sub cabinets and 12 X JBL 4892 array cabinets for stage infill.

  • DiGiCo D5 at The Annual Rotary International Conference

    DiGiCo D5 RotaryThe Annual Rotary International Conference was held in June 2003 at the Brisbane convention centre. This conference attracted 20,000 delegates from overseas and within Australia.
    The conference featured a broad range of Australian artists including Graeme Connors, Queensland Youth Orchestra, The Bangarra Dance company and others.
    JPS was contracted by the event producer ‘Design Troupe’ to supply a sound system for the main 3 halls in the Convention centre. This system design included an L-ACOUSTICS V-DOSC/ dV-DOSC speaker system and the latest addition to the JPS rental inventory the ‘Digico D5 Live’ console.
    The flexibility of the D5 112 EX digital console enabled the JPS engineers to rehearse and then recall all the various artist settings allowing greater efficiency and qualitiy of sound for all of the performances, speech and presentations.

  • DiGiCo D5 Live arrives in Australia

    DiGiCo D5 Sydney Australia – After taking delivery of the first DiGiCo D5 96E-40 console to arrive in Australia Jands Production Services (JPS) spent over six weeks familiarising engineers and technicians with the console.

  • Carlos Santana in Central Park with i4

    Carlos Santana Carlos Santana’s ‘Shaman’ World tour arrived in Australia in March 2003. The tour played indoors for Brisbane and outdoors for Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth.
    The Sydney shows were held in ‘Centennial Park’ to an audience of over 20,000 people. Contemporary Australian band ‘Yothu Yindi’ opened the show each night as the well appreciated support act.
    JPS provided a 48 Clair i4 speaker system with 36 Clair i4B sub cabinets. Powering the cabinets were Crest 10-004 and QSC 9.0 amplifiers. The system was controlled by the new innovative Clair iO System.
    Carlos Santana’s virtuoso performance and the i4 System provided a great outdoor musical experience for all music lovers and Santana fans who were on hand to witness the event.

  • James Taylor with the Clair i-4/IO System

    James Taylor Grammy award winner ‘James Taylor’ and his incredible band toured Australian theatres in early February 2003. The tour ‘sold out’ all the scheduled concerts, and the amazing performance covered James Taylor’s extensive song repertoire.
    JPS provided a Clair i4/i4B speaker system along with the new Clair iO system controllers, which were custom developed by Lake Audio for Clair Brothers. The Clair iO system incorporates crossover/delay/equalisation and system protection along with a wireless remote interface which enables the engineer to walk the venue and select then adjust any of the speaker system zones.
    Amplification was taken care of by Crest 10-004 and QSC 9.0 amplifiers.
    The show received excellent reviews in both the sound quality and the performance of James Taylor which was highlighted by session greats Steve Gadd on drums and Michael Landau on guitar to name a few.

  • New Order live at the Big Day Out

    Big Day Out '03It’s been a few months since the summer season of festivals, but the jewel in the crown of all the madness is the Big Day Out. This year was thankfully free from mishaps (or worse) and hundreds of thousands of people around Australia enjoyed the spectacle of seeing topdraw rock/pop musicians playing live.

    The V-DOSC system was supplied by Jands Production Services and V-DOSC system engineer Bob Daniels and his team [including Mats Frankl. Nick Giamos, Jonathan Dunlop.   • V-DOSC system on Rumba Live

    Rumba LiveRumba brought together a healthy variety of high-energy acts for two one day mini festivals. Jands Production Services supplied the largest V-DOSC system ever assembled in the southern hemisphere, which provided the 50,000-odd party goers the full Rumba experience.
    Jands Production Services spec’ed a system based on
    L-ACOUSTICS V-DOSC, and the systems long throw, even coverage characteristics shone through in the wide open spaces of two of Australia’s biggest arenas.

  • Bon Jovi Acoustic with V-DOSC and dV-DOSC

    Man From Snowy RiverAs a lead up to Rumba 2002, and for the release of the Microsoft Xbox, Legendary rock act Bon Jovi played an acoustic set to an enthusiastic crowd in Darling Harbour’s Cockle Bay.
    Jands Production Services provided a crew and system for the event that utilised the L-ACOUSTICS V-DOSC System on the floating barge while a set up of dV-DOSC towers were located on the land.
    The excellent throw of the system ensured a full frequency coverage for all of the audience that witnessed this one off acoustic set from this famous arena rock act.

  • Red Hot Chili Peppers Rock Aussie Stadium

    Red Hot Chili Peppers On the afternoon of Friday 29th November 2002, after being almost upstaged by torrential rain, the Red Hot Chilli Peppers performed at Sydney’s Aussie Stadium (formerly known as the Sydney Football Stadium) in Moore Park. Jands Production Services provided an L-ACOUSTICS System consisting of 48 V-DOSC, 18 dV-DOSC, 16 ARCS and 48 SB218 Sub cabinets. This resulted in the best sound production ever produced in the Stadium that, up until now, held a reputation as a venue with an acoustic nightmare for sound engineers. The V-DOSC was configured with 15 elements a side for the main left and right arrays, with 3 dV-DOSC boxes under hung for nearfill. On each side were 9 elements again with 3 underhung dV-DOSC elements. The ARCS cabinets were used as infill boxes.

  • John Farnham ‘The Last Time’ tent tour

    John FarnhamOn November 5th, 2002, John Farnham embarked on a series of concerts that would see him perform in major Australian entertainment arenas and in his own 4,000-seater tent for the last time. imply titled ‘The Last Time’, the tour kicked off in Farnham’s hometown of Melbourne and toured capital cities and country towns across Australia, selling out 94 concerts to an audience totalling over 460,000 people. For eight months, ‘The Last Time’ tour packed 35 years of Farnham hits into a two and a half hour show.
    The tent production received great reviews and the dV-DOSC System, supplied by Jands Production Services, provided excellent coverage. The system was configured ‘in the round’ using four arrays. Each array consisted of 9 dV-DOSC and 2 dV-SUBS powered by Crown MA5002 amplifiers. Four audio crew were supplied by JPS to do the entire eight month tour.
